Tara iti Recovery
The Shorebirds Trust is committed to the recovery efforts for Aotearoa New Zealand’s most endangered bird, Tara iti (New Zealand fairy tern).
We help to
Fund research to address knowledge gaps and guide recovery (link)
Work with patterns to enhance tara iti habitat including shell patch enhancement and landscape-scale predator control, (link)
Support and fund management actions; including nest cameras, satellite trackers, bird hides, providing accomodation for DOC rangers and zoo staff, and developing structured decision making and Advocacy plans.
