Predator Control Project - Conservation Coast

This coordinated predator control vision aims to protect native biodiversity by controlling mammalian predators at a landscape scale.

Stretching from North Pākiri to Mangawhai, the Conservation Coast covers over 10,000ha, creating a vast conservation corridor linking the Auckland and Northland regions.

The project links the existing efforts of Auckland Council, Department of Conservation and private enterprise, through supporting community to establish new areas of predator control on private land.

Matuku-hūrepo Australasian Bittern Monitoring

With the help of a dedicated team of volunteers, the Shorebirds Trust has been leading monitoring of these Critically Endangered specialists.
Monitoring results are helping guide restoration efforts, identifying important locations for targeted management actions.

Education

Through education we are empowering the next generation to take stewardship of the environment. The Shorebirds Trust works closely with local schools, and have partnered with local Conservation Trusts to deliver a youth conservation program. This provides the hands on real world experience necessary to undertake conservation work.
